QMSC launches the John Merricks Keelboat Academy for younger sailors

The John Merricks Crusing Belief (JMST) has chosen Queen Mary Crusing Membership (QMSC) to obtain a big grant that memorialises and honours the passion of Olympic sailor John Merricks. The grant will allow the acquisition of RS21s and the launch of the John Merricks Keelboat Academy.
QMSC was certainly one of eight golf equipment chosen for the legacy awards introduced on the RYA Dinghy and Watersports Present. The recipients are set to proceed the belief’s goal of serving to younger individuals obtain their potential by means of the game of crusing and to create an enduring legacy for John Merricks.
QMSC Treasurer, David Bithell, who, with Membership Secretary Tony Bishop, joined JMST Chair of Trustees, Ian Walker, on stage to obtain the award, mentioned:
‘We’re vastly proud to obtain this award and the chance it presents for our membership to proceed inspiring younger sailors in reminiscence of John Merricks. The membership is wanting ahead to launching the Keelboat Academy in Spring 2022’.
The membership plans to create a centre of excellence for keel boating, constructing a fleet of six RS21 keelboats. QMSC is likely one of the few inland waters to have the infrastructure for keelboats, has nice transport connections to the entire of the UK and the power to host a number of actions upon 700 acres of water, all throughout the M25.
The John Merricks Keelboat Academy is on the coronary heart of the plan.
