Mike McCarthy responds to questions about potential position change for Micah Parsons

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has made his preference for Micah Parsons very clear.

Parsons was nearly unstoppable during his rookie season. The former Penn State star had 84 tackles with 13 sacks last year.

Looking ahead, some fans have questioned why the Cowboys don’t always play Parsons at defensive end. There’s a clear answer.

McCarthy wants his young star moving all around on defense, giving the opponent all sorts of looks.

“The people that say, ‘Hey, why don’t you play him at defensive end?’ Very fair. That’s a very fair question,” McCarthy said, via the team’s website. “But we’ve made it clear: We want him moving around.”

McCarthy added to his argument by pointing out how impactful Parsons was at areas other than defensive end.

“It would be very easy to just line him up at end and play him there every down, but the fact of the matter is he had, what, 13 sacks. Seven came from the linebacker position, six from the defensive end position,” he added.

Moving defensive players around has become a popular movement in the NFL. It’s also become common on the offensive side of the football. Look no further than San Francisco 49ers WR/RB Deebo Samuel.

Micah Parsons will continue being at his best when the Cowboys use him in different ways.
